Just like any other girl more comfortable in a plush bed than a wet tent, I'm endlessly fascinated by rugged, camping-inspired images. Fashion brands are probably aware of this, as they continue exploiting the theme - a model in knits holding an enamel tea cup. In the background, a bearded friend is chopping wood, so they can make on-location Bouillabaisse. It's as charming as it is far from truth, and when Dree Hemigway the whole thing becomes truly and wonderfully far-fetched.
Free People sure know how to make an enviable photo shoot. Their intrinsic embroidery and lace fit wonderfully into the hut-in-the-wood atmosphere, and Dree is so much the face of All-American spirit and adventure. Looking at these photos, I crave them, despite the notion some of the dresses might need to be worn bra-less. I can't do it. I can't sleep in a tent, either. I can, however, buy myself a rugged knit and an enamel cup. Something to look forward to.
