London: A Visual Diary

Summer, I think, is for European travel. Last year I visited Moscow, and this summer, flying out of Israel, I had a chance to spend three days in London with my mom - a girly getaway, much needed reconnecting time and best of all - no 'must see' or 'must to' bucket list items. Both of us had been to London before and took our sweet time doing absolutely nothing. Stylish, delicious, fun nothing. If you ask me, you truly start feeling at home in a city when you find a favorite neighborhood. East London is my favorite - Brick Lane, Shoreditch, Soho, were all walking distance this visit, and solidified this cozy feeling.

Tate Modern, forever the best
Here's the skinny on our short but perfect vacation. Not much words, just my list of go-to places.

We stayed at: Qbic Hotel, a chic, minimal, well-located hotel in my favorite London neighborhood of Shoreditch. If you (like me) love a good lobby with hip people having business meetings, design quirks and a good mattress, stay there.

We ate at: Ottolenghi Spitafields, where breakfasts are colorful, delicious and very Israeli - which I loved. Dishoom, a really fun, modern and dare I say trendy Indian restaurant that feels like someone's living room gone out of control. Bagel Bake, the Brick Lane institution I remembered from a previous visit. It's still basic and gorgeous.

We drank at: the impossibly hip (yes, still) Ace Hotel, where a hilarious night of 'American Bingo' served as our 4th of July celebration.

We saw: the small yet immersive Georgia O'Keeffe exhibition at my favorite place in London, Tate Modern (until October 30th) and a bunch of small galleries in the Soho, like Riflemaker and Sadie Coles HQ.

We shopped at: Office Shoes (three pairs! Stay tuned), Lazy Oaf, and also - despite not buying anything - we stumbled upon an amazing, museum-like boutique Alex Eagle, where designer clothes, fluffy shoes and furniture create a whole new set of #goals.
